Cycling Without Age is coming to Busselton! ✨🚴‍♂️

Cycling Without Age is a not-for-profit charity that provides a community service by connecting those no longer able to ride for themselves with their community and the outdoors by giving them free rides on trishaw ebikes, piloted by volunteer cyclists.

The concept of Cycling Without Age is taking elderly people (or those with disabilities) out for bike rides in specially built trishaw bikes piloted by volunteers. The bike rides are free of charge. Our mission is to build bridges between generations and help prevent loneliness: we provide the elderly people an opportunity to avoid social isolation and remain active in their community by taking them out on bike rides and allow them to feel the wind in their hair!

Imagine the joy of wind in your hair, stories shared on the ride, and the simple freedom of being part of the community. That’s what Cycling Without Age is all about — giving seniors and those with limited mobility the chance to experience life from the seat of a trishaw.

But to make this dream a reality, we need YOU! 💙

  • Hands-on volunteers to help as Volunteer Coordinator, social media storytellers, and fundraising champions

  • Local businesses and community partners to come on board as sponsors and supporters

Together, we can create unforgettable moments, build stronger connections, and show the world the heart of Busselton. 🌊🌟

Join us, support us, and let’s ride into a future filled with dignity, joy, and community spirit — one pedal at a time.

Geographe Community Landcare Nursery 🌿 Celebrating Our Amazing Volunteers! 🌿

The Geographe Community Landcare Nursery (GCLN) recently celebrated its dedicated volunteers — the heart and hands behind the nursery’s success. These remarkable individuals have spent countless hours propagating local native plants that support revegetation and biodiversity projects across the South West.

In May 2025, GCLN received a generous grant from Rio Tinto, allowing the purchase of branded SunSmart work shirts as a token of appreciation for the nursery’s long-serving volunteers. The new shirts are now proudly worn by the team — a symbol of both recognition and community spirit.

Each year, GCLN produces between 150,000 and 200,000 plants for Landcare and restoration projects with local and state government bodies, including Main Roads WA and the Bunbury Outer Ring Road (BORR) project, as well as with landholders, landscapers, and home gardeners. The nursery specialises in propagating local native plant species, helping preserve the unique biodiversity of the Geographe region and supporting long-term ecological sustainability.

With around 70 active volunteers, GCLN is a hive of activity throughout the week. Volunteers can be found “pricking out” seedlings into tubes, cleaning pots, propagating new plants from cuttings, restocking the retail area, or lending a hand with general nursery maintenance. Every contribution — big or small — plays an important role in keeping the nursery thriving.

As a not-for-profit organisation, GCLN relies on this incredible volunteer workforce and has a proud tradition of welcoming people from diverse backgrounds and abilities. The shared goal of caring for the environment and fostering biodiversity brings everyone together in a friendly, purpose-driven community.

“It’s a great team of people giving their time to help the environment. Whether you can spare a few hours a week or just a half day, every bit of help makes a difference — and it’s greatly appreciated!”
