AGM 2012
Keep Busselton Beautiful Committee . Will be holding their AGM on Monday 6th February at 9am at the Veteran Car Club Hall Cnr Queen St & Marine Tce. As all
Executive positions are vacated as per Constitution, we would like as many to attend. If a new Committee is not formed KBBC will be forced to cease it's activities within the community, after 40 years of great enjoyment, to all members, and public support. Keep Busselton Beautiful
The Club was started in early 1970s and is an adjunct to the Busselton Dunsborugh Shire.
Our duties are to report to the Shire any overhanging trees & unsafe foot paths , etc.
Our main aims are ; To keep the town tidy & neat , encourage residents to do likewise by judging gardens & holding a presentation day each November. Also we organize a town cleanup each August & encourage Schools , Scouts , Guides, Community groups & Individuals to pick up rubbish by providing bags & arranging for Shire to collect bags. Last year 48 volunteers helped picking up 76 bags rubbish.
We run a flower garden competition each year & award perpetual trophies & a small cash award to winners of each, in the following categories; Rose ,Cottage ,Water wise , Native , New garden (under 2 years) & School Gardens , Light Industrial Area. Gardens , the runners up receive a certificate . Then a champion garden is selected, A vegetable Garden competition has been conducted for the past 3 years. Both competitions involve the public & schools. Schools very interested in the vegetable garden competition. Last year 6o people attended the presentation day .
In previous years when we had more committee members the gardens were judged each month by the members then at the end of the year individual judges, judged the annual awards.
We also assisted in the past with the cemetery cleanup prior to Mothers & Fathers day.
On the 12.07.2006 K B B C & The Rotary club presented plan before council to build a town clock corner Queen ST & Marine Tce. this was approved in principal . Due to circumstances beyond our control this plan was shelved.
In past years we have entered Busselton/ Dunsborough in The Tidy Towns Competition & with the assistance of the public, numerous community groups & schools we were successful in winning Enhancing Cultural Identity Award. in 2010 FOR THE SOUTH WEST. THE COMMUNITY ACTION AWARD. in 2008 & 2009.
Busselton won tidy town for the state in the 1980s & in the 1970s.
In 2009 &2010 the Shire ran a xmas lights competition which was judged by KBBC.
The club thanks the Shire for their continued support.
